About us
Sustainable Humanity Development Alliance (SOHDA) is non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian and development organization established in 1991 and dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable communities across Somalia. Since the collapse of the Somali state and the onset of prolonged humanitarian crises, SOHDA has remained committed to supporting communities affected by conflict, displacement, natural disasters, poverty, and limited access to essential services.
With decades of experience operating in complex and challenging environments, SOHDA has built a strong reputation as a trusted local organization with extensive grassroots networks, community acceptance, and technical expertise in delivering integrated humanitarian assistance and sustainable development programs. The organization works at the intersection of humanitarian response, recovery, resilience, and long-term development, ensuring that communities are not only able to survive crises but also build pathways toward self-reliance and sustainable growth.
SOHDA was established in response to the recurring humanitarian and development challenges facing Somalia, including droughts, floods, food insecurity, disease outbreaks, displacement, environmental degradation, and inadequate access to healthcare, education, water, sanitation, and livelihood opportunities. Through a community-centered approach, the organization empowers vulnerable populations to identify their needs, participate in decision-making processes, and lead solutions that improve their lives and strengthen local resilience.
Our interventions are designed to address both immediate humanitarian needs and the underlying causes of vulnerability. By combining emergency assistance with long-term development strategies, SOHDA contributes to building stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities capable of withstanding future shocks and challenges.
